APH - Defying Gravity MAD (unfinished)

A MAD (Moving Animated Doujinshi) that I started and will (most likely) never finish. It’s supposed to be about the Poznań 1956 protests that occurred in Poland, where the people and workers of Poland staged a massive protest against their communist government, ultimately ending in the deaths of anywhere from 50 to a hundred people (accounts vary). However, in the long run, it was instrumental in getting the country some much needed reforms and concessions from the Communists. More info here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozna%C5…

I was listening to “Defying Gravity” from the stage musical “Wicked,” and this scenario between Poland and Lithuania playing the roles of Elphaba and Galinda respectively popped into my head, and it grew until I could see every beat of it in my head, almost like a movie. I had been wanting to try my hand at making a MAD for the longest time, and after storyboarding the whole thing out, I got down to drawing it in earnest. Unfortunately, the song I picked was six minutes long, and I lost steam about a third of the way through, and basically stopped caring. Also… my drawing gets REALLY sloppy after the first few panels, and anatomy and character models, HAH! What is this “anatomy” and “character models” you speak of? I’m almost too embarrassed to post this, but I spent WAY too much time on it to let it go to waste. Hopefully, my vision for what this MAD was supposed to be shines through somewhat anyway. I also had to pitch shift it to keep it from getting blocked again, so hopefully it works now.

Also, my head-canon’s evolved considerably since I made this, so Poland and Lithuania… would NOT be on very good speaking terms by this time, at least the way it’s portrayed in the song. Also, Feliks wouldn’t be living with Ivan, since Poland was a satellite communist country and not actually part of the Soviet Union itself. But, rule of drama, and all. And yes, they both are in Russia in the MAD. Poland’s in the process of leaving for his own country when Liet barges in on him.

So anyway, I do hope you all like this somewhat. Please drop a comment to tell me if you love it/like it/hate it/think I smell bad and should never draw anything again. ^w^
