APH: Fantasia Allies

Colored this for a birthday present for someone. This pic intrigued me when I first saw it, and I eventually decided to color it both for the practice and to flesh out why in the world the Allies would be dressed as RPG characters. I decided America is a Gunslinger, France is a Paladin, England is an Elemental, and Russia is a Wayfarer. Over the course of coloring this, the basic concept evolved into a full-blown sci-fi/fantasy AU of my own making, which then morphed into my original story “Watermarks.”

China’s outfit was the only one that the artist drew multiple times, gave a color scheme to, and actually explained what his function was, so I had sort of a freebie with him. I had to wing everyone else though, from the color of their outfits, to what they actually were supposed to be. Russia was actually the toughest to determine what his occupation was, because everyone else was kind of obvious (I have a feeling England was maybe supposed to be a wizard or something, but I changed it to be in keeping with the whole sci-fi theme). France’s color scheme was the hardest to get come up with, but I like how America and Russia turned out best. And everyone’s hair. I like shading hair. And the background took me forever, but I’m inordinately proud of it. ^-^
