Alice: Madness Returns - Hattress X-I

This is the first piece of concept art I drew for a story idea (which still needs a name), wherein myself and my two friends PwnedByPineapple and KitakLaw somehow find ourselves in Alice Liddell’s Wonderland (specifically, the Alice: Madness Returns video game Wonderland), and we have to figure out how to escape her shattered psyche before we become permanently lost in it. Or something. I’m still working out the bugs. No, this is not all an excuse to just draw all the awesome outfits and us looking super badass, what are you talking about?

But anyway, this is… well, me, dressed in the Hattress outfit. A super, SUPER idealized me, anyways. In fact, you probably wouldn’t recognize me if you saw this and then met me in real life. But oh well, it’s really stylized anyway, and this is how I’d LIKE to look, so it works. Oh, and this was just a sketch before I decided to bite the bullet and turn it into a full-blown pic, so if the anatomy, outfit, or the mechanical arm is off a bit, that’s why (belts, why so many belts?!).

Since this will not be a game we’re in, but Alice’s actual mind, the effects the different dresses have on gameplay will be changed. For instance, if you wear the Hattress in the game, the effect is that you lose currency teeth instead of health roses when you receive damage. However, in this story, the mechanical arm can extend to the length of about twenty-five feet if the wearer of the outfit wishes, and the hat itself acts as a Bag of Holding, where the wearer can pull whatever they wish out of it (though the hat can be… a mite unpredictable at times, which leads to wacky hijinks.)

I’d be interested in seeing if anyone can identify all the symbols on my hat without googling any of them. You might even get a cookie.

Overall, I’m actually really pleased with how this turned out. Kitak will be next, followed by Pineapple. Keep your eyes peeled!
